A wide range of service opportunities can be found at SRF temples, centers, and meditation groups worldwide. All of them rely on volunteers in order to operate. If you would like to help, we encourage you to directly contact one of them near you (see location finder below).

In addition, we invite you to register on the SRF/YSS Volunteer Portal to review our current list of other programs and opportunities to serve with SRF devotees around the world. All these projects and programs are developed under the direction of SRF monastic leadership to support the Aims and Ideals set forth by Paramahansa Yogananda.

On the volunteer portal you can create a volunteer profile listing your particular skills, talents, and interests, as well as find and work with others across the world. The skills you already have, and the desire to serve our Guru, are the only “requirements” to participate. You determine your own commitment of time and energy, and you are encouraged to plan and maintain a comfortable balance between service and your other spiritual and material responsibilities (to family, work, meditation practice, etc.).

Voluntary League of Disciples

The Voluntary League of Disciples consists of SRF and YSS Kriya Yoga initiates who take a pledge to structure their lives around the plan of spiritual life set forth by Paramahansa Yogananda, and to give freely of their time and resources to advance his spiritual mission for the upliftment of humanity.

Paramahansa Yogananda himself envisioned a lay disciple order and took the first steps toward its creation in the latter years of his life. His dream came to fruition with the formal inauguration of the SRF/YSS Voluntary League of Disciples in 2021.
